Omgosh that is a lot of chicks going into the fall. My Broodies are hatching and se have chicks. The dUccles were doing a good job for about a half second, I had two girls on one clutch of 9 chicks and they are now down to 2 chicks. Stupid girls were leaving them outside of the coop and they got cold and were dying, I managed to save them 3 times, but one day I was late coming home and didn't get them in in time, I am now locking them in the coop, my other dUccle is fairing better with her 7 chicks I haven't let her out all
we tend to hatch year round.. I take a couple of weeks off during the summer for incubator maintenance and such.. then another small break during the winter.. each break is only a couple of weeks... then it's back to setting eggs again..
yeah... i need a life!![]()
edited to add.. I have 45 chicks now in brooders.. lol.. want some?

WHAT do you do with that many chickens? Do you sell Em all as chicks? Or do you grow them all out? If so WHERE? Yikes !
ETA: Pssssst! What kind of babies do you have?
well.. I have French Black Copper Marans pipping right now...
in the brooders I have:
Lavender Araucanas
Yokohamas
Dorkings
Ameraucana (they look to be pure so far.. time will tell once they feather out)...
Turkeys
Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons
Lavender Cuckoo Orpington
English Orpingtons
SBEL
Cream Legbar
Lemon Cuckoo Maran (which I suspect is just a Buff Maran.. but we'll see)...
We usually grow the chicks out and see how they look.. then cull (freezer camp) or give away the ones we don't want
Sometimes I'll give away a few chicks if I end up with too many of one breed to deal with...
in the incubators i still have:
FBCM from three sources (2 in Texas, 1 from Delaware)
Wheaten Marans (Texas)
Birchen marans (Texas)
White Marans (Texas)
Bresse (Virginia)
Euskal Oiloa
New Hampshires
Split Silkied Ams (Texas)
Silkies from three sources (Texas, North Carolina and Maine)
English Orpingtons (assorted colors) from four sources (Maine, Louisiana, Wisconsin and California)
Araucana (assorted and lavenders)
Rhode Island Reds (Texas)
Turkey (Maine)
Blue Am X (Maine)
Quail (Pennsylvania)
Delaware (Tennessee)
