PRUNES!!

I love those individually wrapped prunes by Sunsweet. I throw some in my pocket and snack on them.

Well, my girls LOVE them. As soon as I start to unwrap them, they start jumping to get 'em. I hold it as hard as I can and they often yank it from my fingers and run off with it. Usually they tear off chunks and gobble them down. Those prunes are, hands down, my girls' favorite treats!!

A close second is garden grubs. Whenever my girls see me digging in my garden them come running and get right into the soil I'm working in to gobble up the garden grubs as soon as they see them. It is so funny, I can never get anything done because they're in the way but at least they get rid of the grubs for me. I used to hate seeing them, now I love seeing them so the girls can have a treat!

My girls are so spoiled as I suspect many others represented in this forum are! I love that Chobani Greek yogurt and my favorite flavor is mango. Well, I have learned that when I go to see my girls I have to bring two. I take spoonsful out and first they pick out the chunks of mango which they really love, then they eat the rest of the yogurt. They normally get plain yogurt but they sure like the fruit ones, especially the mango.

Hi Everyone!!!

Now that my babies are 6week old pullets....I have nearly a full sack of chickstarter to get rid of.

I thought of an idea that I sort of got from BYC forum. Some ppl mentioned when their feed is
down to the crumbs they mix it with water & their chickens loved it.
I thought to mix the feed with water, 2 eggs (in a large mixing bowl), some seed feed (a scoop full)
some chook vitamins (a handful) my vitamins are powdered, a bit of grit..about a cup full,
and a scoop of wheat.

I mixed it all up to a half dry half wet consistancy so that when u squeeze it in ur fist, it stays together.
I put them in the oven for 10mins on 200deg C. They come out hard-ish. I thought these healthy treats
would also keep them occupied in their coop, you could even tie them to the roof of the coop for them to
peck at, at various heights. I thought it would be good for them. Also in summer, you could give them
frozen cubed veges to cool them down.

Here's a pic of our chook cookies....

Wild bird feed seedlings- I started throwing the wild bird seeds out on the used to be chicken area. I didn't cover them or anything. When the seedlings grow the chickens go CRAZY

them. For one bag you get an lot! You can hand feed them to them or let them free range for them, plant the seeds in post ect. No work required. You can even put out an bird feeder for the wild birds and the seeds they dprp or push off wil grow for your chickens! good luck
