Feeder Build

JT - this is awesome! I've been using a large plastic trash can with holes/street elbow's for bulk feed and it takes up a good bit of space. I've also got a couple of 5 gallon buckets using the same method - I like to have an excess of feed/water stations to reduce arguments.

Right now, my teenagers in Cell Block B are tossing the crumble feed all over the place out of the 5 gallon bucket feeders. I guess I'll be going to Lowes to get some materials and firing up the power tools! I'm lucky, my shop has a table saw, miter table, drill press, and other goodies .. thank you for posting the PDF's for this. You rock!

@techbsmith I'm modifying the feeder today to have 5 dividers to narrow up the space a bit, I still have one that is raking feed out. I tried 7 but that was too narrow so I'm going with 5. I'll post a photo when I'm done.

I've made the front piece taller 3 times lol. Watching the raker she does it from side to side so my theory is the reduce the width some and see what that does. I'm at a 4" wide opening now so we'll see.

You'll have to update your drawings....once you get it where it works.
Wondering too if the 3" trough needs to be bigger, so their heads still fit straight on.

Wow! Great idea! I just built a feeder based on your concept, albeit not as nice. Attaching the slanted roof really kicked my butt. lol The dividers are a very clever addition. May have to sit in the run with a Bud and scratch my head over this now. lol

Nice! I've recently switched my laying girls over from a pelletized layer feed to something that's more like a crumble. I've started getting my feed from a local Mennonite Feed Mill that has thus far been doing great. It's considerably cheaper at only 8.25 per 50# bag and they have a layer, all flock, and chick starter/raiser blend. My flocks seem to love it, but I've had a good bit more mess now that it's not a pellet type food.

Once I get something put together based on your design, I'll brag on your work a bit more!

And here is proof that I need to change the design a bit more, The ends need to be as high as the middle ones and I'll raise the front again...
