what type of feeder do you use? My chickens seem to waste so much feed. Seems half of it ends up on the floor. There has to be a better way. I feed egg crumbles.

Plastic feeder. Has 12 holes. They waste food by putting alfalfa grass into the feeder. They mixed pine shavings beforehand. What age are they? When older maybe can use a pie tin. When they forage.

Tons of feeders out there but a good one will stop the feed waste, keep the feed dry, and stop the wild birds and rodents. A treadle feeder does this, going to cost around $100.00 depending what part of the country you are in and where the feeder is shipped from. The best have an inward swinging door, narrow and distant treadle step, a heavy counterweight, and a spring that pre loads the door. If you are feeding mixed grain instead of just crumbles you might need a feeder lip extension so be sure one is available.

You will be doing more than protecting the feed, you will be keeping mites, lice, fleas, and other pests from coming in with the vermin. Healthier chickens lay more eggs and gain weight faster.

Got this kit on Amazon.... came with everything but the bucket.... works great.....
