Hello,
We have 5, 4 week old chicks. Currently we always have food in their brooding box but we are wondering if we should be feeding them at specific times? We figure when they move into their coop they will only eat at specific times, should we be preparing them now?

Thanx for all the help!

Other than Cornish cross meat birds, I suggest having the right feed available to them at all times, when they are chicks and when they are laying. I don't know what you gain by not letting them eat their fill. My laying flock has food from when they wake up until they go to bed. This link may help with feeding them. I think it is excellent.

I'm new, but I've read that chickens regulate how much food they get, so we just make sure they have food all they time and they eat it whenever they feel like it.

For some people, leaving the feed overnight is a good way to attract rodents! Better safe than sorry if your area is known to have rats and mice....
