Feeding chickens fermented feed

Oh, I didn’t know whole grains can be fermented!
I’m confused about the advice on the chickie chick blog... it looks like she’s fermenting scratch and peck in her images, yet she’s advising against it? 🤔

Scratch & Peck even recommends fermenting their feed. It's really the only way to get the chickens to eat all components without picking stuff out, especially the fines which contain protein, vitamins, minerals, etc.

Yes, you can ferment whole grain feed. The procedure is the same, you just ferment a little longer.

Doesn't really take longer, especially in summer... by 24 hours with some summer heat it's pretty bubbly and ready to go.

Very true - I only said that because @yakitori is only fermenting her chick feed for 10 hours which might not achieve the maximum benefit for a whole grain feed. I have also found 24 hours to be ideal once it's started. I should have clarified that in my post!
