Feeding chicks corn on cob

How old do chicks need to be before I can give them scraps. Mine are about 4-5 weeks old and I have some left over corn on the cob and eaten corn cobbs. Can I give it to them? Are they too young?

A little bit is probably fine. Have they had access to grit? My chickens love stripping corn cobs after I'm done with them, though I wouldn't give too many to young birds as you still want them mainly on their feed.

They have not had grit.

I'd start supplying them with grit, unless they've had access to rocky soil with grit sized rocks, or gravel with smaller pieces mixed in. They're big enough now that you can probably pick out some small pieces from a bag of adult grit.

You can probably give them a little bit of scraps as long as they are getting grit. I wouldn’t give them much before they are a couple months old though. I just gave mine meal worms every now and then, but would let them pick out things outside on their own. I gave mine mainly chick starter through their growing, because I wanted them to grow up to be as big and beautiful as possible! Sometimes if you give them too much scraps, they end up looking scrappy, LOL!

Well so far al they have had us chick starter and what ever they make find outside.

I would probably buy the chick grit. They need that to digest their food otherwise it can just get stuck and rot in their crop and you don’t want to have to deal with a sick chick.

Go by the size of the bird in comparison to the size of grit. I don't use chick grit past 5 or 6 weeks or so, it's already looking too small by then.
