Feeding Dogs!

Those "yucky" ingredients don't bother me (except plastics, but those are in a lot of human grade foods too and are hard to avoid). Eating the whole animal ("inedible to humans" parts) is natural for pretty much all animals. If my dog killed an animal he wanted to eat, he wouldn't sit there and pick it apart and only eat the muscle meat. There is a lot of nutrition in eating other parts of the body that might seem gross to humans.
Completely agree with that! My dogs get all the 'yucky' bits when I process here. But the rest? :sick

The though of eating euthanized pets does not bother you? You know what that means right? They have been killed with a drug. A drug that is most definitely still in their body. A drug that is kept under lock and key at a vet clinic because of how dangerous it is.
Okay, yeah, that one bothers me. I forgot that was on the list.

But how prevalent is that even? Do we know? I've heard about that possibly being in dog foods, but I don't know where that info comes from and what food brands it applies to.

There’s no definitive proof that that is true though. It’s just another attempt to scare people away from feeding kibble.

We don’t know. I think they found some of the drugs in the kibble once years ago and now it’s been circulating around ever since. But there was never any proof it was from deceased pets as far as I know

Yeah, that's a good point. I hope it isn't. It really just doesn't make sense. Surely that would be illegal or have some sort of regulations??
And yes, I do agree with what you said. Animals are not humans, they eat what they like, which usually the whole carcass.

I used to have the article but that was on a computer far far away. There are no regulations in North America (Canada and US) regarding pet food, so if the ingredients say Meat and Meat By Products it could be anything. Including what I mentioned in my original post.

What I remember vividly from that article was that those that were left at the clinic were hauled away and often ended up in meat processing plants.

My opinion is like this, raw food is best and healthiest when done correctly. Just like many healthy eating ways for humans. But for many people it's not sustainable to feed a fully raw diet, whether is be because of price or convenience or any other factors. Just like how those diets for humans might not be sustainable for some people. It's ok too feed kibble and nobody should feel ashamed for it as long as you are feeding a hugh quality, nutritious kibble, whether it be the big 5 or a boutique brand, kibble is finicky and finding one that works for your dog can be hard.

Oh, and lets not forget many of those still have traces of any vaccine they may have received. Leading to even more issues in our overvaccinated pets.
Do you have chickens and are they vaccinated? It's not just pets that are over vaccinated. Do you have kids? They are required to have specific vaccines prior to entering school.
Do you or your family members get the flu shot? All rhetorical, but you get my point -- we are an over vaccinated society on all levels.

Unless one grows all their own pesticide free food in their own garden and prepares only that food for family and pets - then there is exposure to other unwanted elements. It's unavoidable, unfortunately.
