feeding question on Beet Leaves

I'm bumping this old thread with a question. I have some medium-sized beets from the market. I'm giving the leaves to the girls (I didn't care for them), but what about the stems? Are they too woody for chickens?

I fed my girls beets yesterday, today I noticed one girl in particular has bright red poop! It looks like blood but since it only started today and I fed them beets yesterday can I assume that it's not blood!?! She acts healthy and eats just fine so maybe I'm being paranoid but idk.

Here is the answer to your question.
Feeding beets...means red poops. Don't think it's coccidiosis!

haha ok I just wanted to make sure it would really look like blood and wasn't suppose to be more beet colored.
