I feed mine twice daily if they are flying and only once if they are having an 'in' day. I always feed first thing in the morning. If they are flying they get the second feed when I call them in. They very rarely don't trap straight away!Does everyone feed once or twice daily? Have seen people doing both, or is it just personal preference?

For my flyers, they get food once a day for 6-8 minutes after they fly. This is the perfect amount of feed for them in my opinion. a lot of people feed their flyers for 20 minutes or more. I don't know how they would trap with that much food! Mine don't trap of they get 10-15 minutes of food. I feed them at about 5 in the evening.Does everyone feed once or twice daily? Thankyou! I like to try and keep most of my animals on a similar schedule, it makes it easier for me. Appreciate the help!!For my flyers, they get food once a day for 6-8 minutes after they fly. My breeders get food at 12. It last them all day till the next day at about about 8 in the morning.
Thankyou for the reply! Will definitely take this into account!Over many years I have come to the conclusion that once a day is perfect for my birds.
If I did 2 times they were getting overweight, and also slow to trap back to the coop... some birds even sleeping on the house roof!!
Only time I feed more is if they have young in the nest.
Other tip is fill the feeder, let them eat till full (you will see birds going to get a drink and some flying back to perches)…. then is the time to take out the feeder. Leave it in any longer and birds will start to sort out through the seeds and spill and throw it out of the feeds onto the floor.
Do not refill the feeder until the birds eat all the seeds. They will eat their favourite seeds first, then the next day have to eat the rest. Then there is no feed waste and they get a balanced diet.. stay in shape.
