Female redwings never arrived, and the males have all left. Perhaps there will be no nests in the cattails in the swamp this year. Vernal pools along the terraces contain strings of toad eggs.

Lots of male Redwings here. No females yet. They usually show up about the same time as the Yellow heads and the Grackles. None of those either.

Hummingbirds have started arriving! And there is a wren nesting in an old mail box on top of a garbage can! Going to be hot there, the box is metal.

Had over 50 male Redwings here today. The females should be arriving any day now. Thirty degress out and 4+ inches of snow and the first grackle showed up today.

Grackles arrived earlier here in a mixed flock along with the Redwing males.

The grackles have been here for about a week.

I heard a Yellowhead yesterday. Today I saw them.

5 eggs in the Phoebe's nest. So far it has not been parasitized by a cowbird. As a matter of fact I haven't seen any cowbirds so far this spring. Tree swallows still have not arrived.

Saw the first Yellow-rumped Warbler yesterday. It did not cooperate as it bopped around inside a Juniper while dining on Mayflies.

I did manage to catch up with one of the Lincoln's Sparrows.
