Feeding Wild Birds

I have one large turkey hanging around in the morning, no beard, it's coming to the bird feeder. The bird population has made quite a comeback from last year here in N.E. Ohio.

It was in a tree above my yard pond. Hey, you know it might be time to go fishing.

We see them often here on the river.

Fox kit hit on the road in front of my house last night. Guess it didn't have time to get street smart.

And they say turkeys are dumb? The 3 hens and 5 poults show up several times a day to eat under the bird feeder - yeah, I also spill a bit on purpose. Mother hen is dominant, bearded hen is second in command, and the third hen gets very little chance at the feed. The past two days she has started showing up on her own in order to get some of the feed.

Turkeys are capable of learning. People think they are dumb because they are born with different instincts than the chickens that they are used to.

Yesterday evening the 3 turkey hens showed up without the poults. Hopefully they will all return today, but I have my doubts.
