Feeding Wild Birds

Today the bearded turkey hen showed up at the home feeder. It's been a year since I've seen her. Last year I joked that she was showing up the tom with her on beard length. This year there was no tom with her. Embarrassed? Her beard is now 8 - 10" long. She approached the window feeder, and I got a pretty good estimate as to its length.

I just saw a Titmouse baby fly out of the tree hole!! It landed shakely but did well in its first flight! :woot Parents are tempting the others out with calls and bugs in their beaks on the adjacent branch. Its about flipping time these babies come out of there, its been brutal worrying about things crawling or slithering in to dine in babies! :barnie

I have a bird house on the front porch. Back in April I saw a wren going in and out, aha! A nest.

I'd not seen her in a while, so a couple weeks ago I opened the box to clean out the nest. There were eggs still inside. I shut the door. I checked on Friday, and the eggs were still there, not good.

Something happened to the momma. :(
