Feeding Wild Birds

That was at Wonders of wildlife museum where my DD currently works. She had us come visit there back in May for her birthday. I had a good time pointing out everything in this room to my bil. 🤣
I know a guy who felt laws didn't apply to him. He can no longer own firearms due to his felony conviction..

We have not had any of the unusual birds at our feeders this year. Mostly Steller Jays, Wrens and Chickadees. I also spread seed on the ground for the doves who don't seem to want to come up to the feeder. We've had several crows this time, but I don't necessarily feed them. I do love them, but not sure what they eat (besides cat food...long story). One pigeon didn't leave the area with the rest of them, but they will come and pick her up on their way back through next month.

We did see one red winged black bird.

Oh, and of course we get the hummingbirds around our fuchsias.

Hummingbirds still fighting over the feeder. Oddly, it seems to be the female (or possibly one of the juveniles, but I’m assuming the adult) who’s been posting herself as sentry on top of the thing this year, it’s usually the male. And he’s still around because I saw him today.

Seasonal birds are returning on their way south.
Flock of Grackles was foraging on the front lawn yesterday. It appears that the bearded hen has gone solitary again. For the past two days she has not been with the flock. She is pretty much hanging in the backyard by herself. The 8 poults are half to three quarters grown now.

On the way into the club tonight I saw a lot of deer in the hayfield closest to the club. Freshly planted with timothy last year, it was the last field harvested and is just now showing growth. There were 40+ deer. I saw the two bucks who traveled together last year and survived, and then - five more nice bucks in the bunch. On the way out, one field closer to the road I saw the one antlered buck. So there are at least 8 mature bucks in the area.
