Feeding Wild Birds

Phone camera photo, not very good, but you should be able to make out birds around the feeders. (Wednesday)

There's a Downy woodpecker on the peanut feeder on the right.

Met the turkey lady (girl) today. Turns out the state is doing a survival study on incubating turkeys and poults raised - 3 year study. Turns out they netted the flock 3 miles from here - these birds really range far. 9 hens were banded and affixed with transmitters. They also banded Short Beard. She seems like a really nice kid, and is really enthusiastic about turkeys and about her job. They are going to contact me whenever they want access to the beagle club.

Finally caught the rabbit that has been eating my azaleas. He has been relocated to the beagle club.

So solves the mystery of where the turkeys went. Glad they are back and the state is interested in their preservation.
