Birds are feeding feverishly during the snow. Seems to be an especially large amount of Juncos this year.

The Juncos here usually leave for the winter, this year three have stayed. They look really cold But the warm up has started, it was -20 this morning compared to -31 yesterday morning.

You know, I looked that up and it appears to be. This is the first time I’ve ever seen birds eat the berries, though.

Had a grackle show up at the feeder today. Should have headed South long ago.

Glad I picked up seed before the storm. Has to be 50-60 Juncos having a party. Cardinals, Black Capped Chickadees, Titmouse, Doves and Woodpeckers. Smeared some peanut butter on the maple. It's a mad house out there. Nine inches of snow with an inch of frozen sleet and rain makes it tough for the birds to forage on the ground.
