When do you start to feed young hens (layers) normal chicken layer feed? We have 9 week old chicks and I wanted to know when to transition them to layer feed. Do I do it gradually?

You start feeding them "real" chicken food around 6 months old. Gradually mix it in with their baby food.

Start feeding the layer feed just before they start laying. It's different for every breed, but for layers such as sex links that's around 4 months. You can just transition straight away, or do it slowly, it doesn't really matter because the chickens will eat it. We jumped right in with the layer feed at about 16 weeks old.
