hi everyone
I have 4 wyandottir "girls" who are very unwell at the moment. the vet, after having examined their poop, has put them on paracillin for 10 days in their water. they are only to eat porridge oats as this will make them thirsty, and stay in their coop. he says not to feed them with anything other than corn and maize and of course green salad and fruit if /when they get over this illness. Is this normal and are wyandottir more prone to illness than other breeds.? I have been giving them a supplement feed which helps for egg-laying hens (the breeder recommended this) but the vet says no. does anyone have any comments to this?? morhen

Yikes! That sounds like a very POOR diet. I'm sure someone with much more expertise than I will chime in here.
