I've had my 2 ducklings for about 3 weeks now and they're wasting more food than they eat. I give it to them in a shallow dish, which they quickly poop in and add a bunch of water as they eat. They don't like the feed after it's been wet a few hours and I have to throw it away.

How should I be feeding these little things? Should I go to the feed store and get some kind of commercial feeder? Or is there another solution? I tried placing the food farther from the water but they still manage to make a mess of it...

I made a feeder for about 50c with a free bucket from the deli section of my grocery store, and the bottom of a vegie tray that I bought at the thrift store. Its been three years and its still going strong. I place that in a wide, shallow planter base (sorry, no pic of that) so that what is billed out of the feeder lands there and rarely is any billed out of the planter base. I keep the feeder in the coop and the waterer outside, so they have to go from one to the other and therefore never get any water in the feed. It is working out great for my ducks. Here is a pic:
