These are my first backyard chickens, I ordered them all female from Cackle. They're 5 weeks old today.

I know it's tough to tell, but I'm very suspicious of the white one. 'She" has red leakage, which I'm hoping is some other color coming in to fill out a little more (anyone have an EE this color? I've seen hundreds of photos and haven't seen one like this). She also stands like a rooster to me. The only thing that gives me pause is the comb, it's yellow and almost nonexistent, but it may be too early?

Let me know if you need me to grab any other photos, thank you!

First, welcome to BYC! This is a great place to learn everything you could ever need to know about chickens!

I have no idea about these sweet little things... They're too young for me to pick out any identifying features.

@rural mouse any ideas?

Thank you! I've learned a ton lurking here.
It's nice to see that old-school forums still exist.

Loving the chickens so far, used to work at a farm and tended a couple flocks but that was more mucking out stalls and filling food and water than anything, this is my first time from chicks and there is a LOT to know.

My flock is my first, just got them as chicks last July! It has been a lot of work, a lot of learning, and a lot of fun! If you haven't yet, check out the articles. There's so much info there on all different topics.

Nothing screams cockerel so far with any of the other birds, but I agree that the white one is potentially a cockerel. Not liking the stance and that slight patterning the bird is growing in does look like it could spread to the shoulders and become that characteristic rusty-red male feathering.

White bird should be on a "watch" list due to the color showing up. However, pin feathers (which is what they are currently) don't show true color yet. They need time to fan out. The rest are not showing anything either way.

#4 looks like could be developing some lacing. Laced birds go through a REALLY ugly phase (compared to finished look) before the lacing really starts popping.

That's what I thought about 4. Looks similar to my SLW around that age.

Here's a picture of my white one at 5 weeks and her as an adult and she turned out to be a she so there's still hope! :)
