Female pigeon attacking male after egg hatches

The first round of babies is pretty much the test run for all birds. More things will usually go wrong then. I wonder if she is just being protective of her little babies?
I thought the same thing, that her instinct to defend the babies is stopping her from allowing Hershey to help her take care of them

So I thi k I just figured out why she isnt letting him near the baby, I picked the baby up to check it when she flew out of the nest and it has a nice cut on its butt, maybe he is going after him when she leaves the nest, it doesnt look deep looks like if you were too scrape your skin, is there anything I can put on it to make sure it doesn't get infected

Non medicated Neosporin

On an adult bird Neosporin fine, but on a young one I wouldnt. Your best bet is to keep nest bowl VERY clean.
So once I had seen that Hershey might be hurting the baby, I put a cage divider between them so they can both fly around and have space and when taffy leaves the nest she can stick her head through the bars and touch Hershey, but he cant go near or touch the baby.

I had heard that if a babu's cloaca was "frowning" or "smiling" that can tell the gender, I was checking the baby out and it looks like it goes upward.
