Fence suggestion

Their site shows that chicken wire as "in store". Also, they claim "free store pickup", should be ordered online. We'll venture there tomorrow. We go shopping to Sumner WINCO and pretty much drive past Puyallup, where the store is.
Yes, you sure do have point on plasticoated wire. It's great till it lasts.
6 ft is not my idea but I see merit to it as I have several fliers that will walk atop of about 9 ft tall solid hedge. Moonwalkers.
As we lost one to apparently airborne predator, I'd rather have entire area netted from the top, but I have to steamroll this through the "no" person. Maybe if we lose another one or two, she'll soften to the idea.

Walmart my dearest beat everyone. As usual, actually.

All I need now is posts, gate, and netting to cover from the top. We had 2nd hawk vist today, but spooked it away. He'll come back. That's 2nd visit in about 6 weeks. I'll cover this new run with netting completely. Mine will end up being 4500sf, I can buy 5000 sf netting for $115.

You realize that is 2" mesh instead of 1" like the other stuff??......
........not sure it matters in your application but that's part of the lower cost.

Ever given thought to electric fencing? Ability to move around with ease and aids in keeping out animals as much as it contains the chickens. At 42" some chickens may brave to fly over it but those few adventurous ones could get a wing clipped.

Fencing, hotgate and charger.

I don't think I'll have any issues with 2 inch diamond opening. No more than I have with chain link fence now.
When we'll have the real small guys spring time, maybe, but we did not so far. They got out through the gap in rear gate, but that was easy fix with wire mesh.
I am covering run from the top. Ordering netting next. I must have top protected, we basically backed by forest.

Yes, silly me. Of course

No, chicken wire is too expensive. But I think I found solution.
It's called Deer Fence.

Metal, coated, plenty of length and not too bad on price. I'll have about 20 ft left for other needs. Chain link removable fence would have cost me close to $3 000.
Chicken wire is way cheaper than the deer fence you posted in the link!

I think that is the 1" if you decide you need it.

72" X 150 feet only $107.00 at rural king. That's half as much as the deer fencing!

This was posted few days back and already ordered.
Yeah, actually I saw that after I posted....that is an incredible price and I also order 3 rolls. That will give me enough to cover my entire run which is now covered in bird netting. The heavy snow collects on the bird netting and sags it down so this will be much better. I will also have enough from the 3 rolls to do a 50'X50' duck fence area at the end of my pond. Thanks a million for posting that link. $33 for 150 foot roll is unbelievable! And since my order was over $50 I get free shipping right to my door. Thanks again!

I think chicken wire is more expensive than $30, I paid GT of $54 with free shipping to my local WM by Friday.
Also, just ordered 50x150 bird netting to have it covered from the top. $109 e-bay. We don't really have heavy snow falls here in PNW. Will get gate from local HW store, those are around $70 plus posts and such. Long weekend coming - maybe will have it finished by Monday. Driving posts into the ground will be a great exercise. I live on top of what was part of gravel pit, so driving ANYTHING into the ground is PITA.
