Ferlized eggs or not ???

My hens have started to lay for 2 weeks now and I want fertle eggs for I can hatch them but the eggs are not fertle. My rooster has been getten on my hens because i have watched him do it. How long does it take to get them fertle ?

If your roo is covering the hens the eggs should be fertile. A single service will ensure your hen lay fertile eggs for up to 2 weeks. Maybe he just needs to practice a bit more?

Are you certain they are not already fertile?

How have you been checking them? From what I know you can't tell if the eggs are fertile unless the hens been sitting on them consistently for about 5-7 days or you have them in the incubator, they don't start to develop till they have a consistent heat source.

You can check with a fresh egg, but you need to crack it open.
