Fermented Feeds

I bought some new chickens and they are going to be BIG. So I'm thinking I need to use a bigger container. I'm going through a 5 gallon bucket in about 3 days so even with 2 of them going I may need to do an 18 gallon container. Just an experiment to see if I need to make that much at a time. I've got 35 chickens right now but will be selling some. I'm just wondering if it would be worth the effort or if I should just stay with an extra 5 gallon bucket. I may put it off for a month because my increase in birds will start in Oct.

Gotta share this..... Spent the time to ferment feed and boss. Today I mixed it up with some goodies and brought it out to my birds. They ate a little before I headed inside and opened my window and saw that my oly girl (pit bull dog) ate all the food!!!!! Seriously she is more likely to lay an egg before my hens!!!!

Ok everyone....

I am very new to fermenting my feed and I have one big question......

How fast does mold grow on it?

I live in extremely hot and humid weather. My first batch was turning out great, but after what seemed to be a short time (2 days or so) I noticed what I think is mold forming on the top of the FF/liquid. It could have been just a film of some sort....I'm wondering if anyone knows about this or has experienced the same thing! Not sure if keeping it inside instead of outdoors would help, but my wife and kids complained that it stinks :/

Thanks everyone!
