Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Just mixed up some more ff. Took the lid off one and it smelled sweeter, yippi! Still a little vomitish but getting better.

   Mine is an old, old scoby now....it's been going for over a year now, same juices.  It can smell a little rank. 

Feed it some buttermilk. It's good for it's digestion. LOL

That scoby is perfect! I wouldn't water it down with buttermilk.....

Okay guys, so after reading and asking a lot of questions I finally got to ferment. Yet I don't get bubbles or odor. I mixed layer pullets, water, buttermilk and boss. It just looks like water everything. My chickens love it but not sure if it is really fermented

When and for what would I add acv.

The really, really slimy upchuck smelling stuff from the very bottom of the bottom bucket gets dumped out on the ground a couple of times a year and they will fight the dog over it and every scrap of it is eaten, the ground is scratched up and the soil is even consumed that has the slime in it. To them that is caviar!

Dolfi, unpasteurized applecider vinegar with the "mother" in tact has the particular type of microorganism you're trying to grow in your fermented feed in it. So pouring a little in will basically "inoculate" your ff with a colony of living microorganisms already breeding and growing.

It's like baking bread with store bought yeast or trying to breed your own wild yeast with warm water and flour. The thing you're trying to grow is everywhere, you just have to give it the right conditions to outgrow everything else. Buying yeast at the store is just faster. Adding UP/ACV is just faster.

You can also add a little UP/ACV to an ungalvenized waterer for your chickens to get similar, but lesser, effects.
