Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

TW ..... I think it was you that asked this. Somehow I can't find the post but someone had replied and I saw this in the reply.

Hey Rose. Is your birds' feathering not any better? Mine seems quite a bit better. They still look a little rough but seem to be straightening up.

My birds don't like to be touched but the things are like puppies, can't hardly walk for them. I need to throw corn or something across the pen to get them out of the way. lol Some still won't move. They know the good stuff is in the bucket. lol

Some of them are STILL naked and some are getting fuzzy feathers. I made them the suet cakes night before last I think it was and have already fed them two of them and they devired sp? them. I bought some layer pellets today that are 22% protein I think it is to help them get some feathers on their hyde before the heatwave kicks in gear around here. Was 80 something here the other day already and it cooked their poor backs. :( I smeared some castor oil on one of ems skin today while she was in the nest. She was starting to get up and get out when I did it but when she felt it, I guess it felt good to her so she sit back down and I really smeared it in there good because it was soooo dry. I also put out sulfur in their dusting areas and on their roost and in their nests this evening just in case I am missing something. I figured I can cut the protein level with some scratch or something once I get them growing some feathers back in there so they wont be on so high protein for too long.

Well someone needed to move in with her to prevent that kind of foolish spending, but obviously not her son. Don't they have those agencies there that check on the elderly to prevent abuse? Every state has one. Call them to check up on her. If she is being abused they will take her away from him and put her in a state institution, not necessarily a better place, but sometimes.

I have been feeding my Chickens and TSC pullets FF for 4 weeks now.

I have only layers right now but I find this to be the most helpful and information packed site on FF so far.

My Hens have increased eggs from 4 daily to 7 which is Great since I have 7 hens that is 100 percent production!
My Ladies no longer eat from the pellet hanger they know each morning and each evening they get home cookin! With some roaming time in between.

The Chicks are growing and feathering wonderfully and I have not had to deal with a single pasty butt past day 1 when I brought them home one had a icky bum.

I just wanted to say thank you to every who contributes their knowledge here. It hasn't gone unused.

Hey there. That ff is good stuff huh? My birds get ill at me if I feed them dry feed. They will just look at it a lot of times then follow me hoping I have some ff in the bucket. lol

My Australorps don't particularly like being handled but they tolerate me. Ever since I've started ff though they've followed me everywhere I go. I've nearly stepped on them several times.

Mine hate to be touched! Now they think standing on my feet or trying to fly up in the bucket is okay, just don't want me to touch them. LOL

Mine got like that after intro to new adults My family decided to take on a moving problem for friends and they had not spent the time I did with mine.
It was hard for it not to rub off on them as the new guys freaked out with human contact. They are all gone now. And since I am a late nighter I have started spending time in the coop when they roost for the night I talk to them and touch them hold them and sometimes I even bring them in the house for a treat and to make sure all is right with them. It is making a HUGE difference in them fairly quickly.
