Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Looks like just the thing that I need.  I can't use a spoon to stir mine as it is too thick and always bends my spoon.  So, I reach my arm way down to the bottom of the bucket and mix all the old in with all the new.  Only takes a couple minutes so no big deal on the effort part but man does it make my arm itch!  I've developed a rash from about 6 inches above my wrist to mid bicep area and only on the inside/back of the arm.  Weird!  I wash it off as soon as I can too but still... that rash is there, and every morning and every evening I get to aggravate it some more!

What is that contraption called?

I use an old cooking spoon. Plastic on the spoon part but with a medal rod for the length of it, and a plastic handle over the top. It's just long enough to reach the bottom of the 5 gal bucket without getting my hands wet. At long as the bucket isn't filled to the very top anyway.

Question; I have heard several of you talk about other people or using ACV for yourselfs. Why? And what benefits have you seen? I took a swig the other day when I was adding some to the chickens water. It wasn't so bad:D

I don't see why folks don't just go outside and get a stick the right diameter to stir the stuff. You might can even find one long enough to use both hands to stir with. Anyway the thing on the drill is a paint stirrer made for stirring paint in 5 gallon buckets with a drill.

Type in "Benefits of using apple cider vinegar for health" into your search engine and you will be able to read for about a year on the benefits of it, for humans and animals alike.

I use my scoop...what's so darn hard about stirring FF that it requires special tools or paddles? Anyone who has ever made bread can grasp the concept of stirring a mash or thicker substance with just a simple spoon or scoop. It's a drop or push into the edge of the mix near the bucket wall, and then a lift and pull motion towards you all around the edges of the mix. Simple, fast, effective.

Got a broken hoe or shovel handle? That's what I use, like stirring up a pot of witches brew. Then use a 1/2 gal plastic juice bottle cut in half to scoop with.

I have 2 x 5 gallon buckets going with 3 parts mash and 1 part grains. That crud on the bottom is a pain to mix in. With the paint mixer, it takes a fraction of the time with a fraction of the effort.

The fermentation process has kicked into over-drive since I started using.

To be honest, I'm getting tired of sharing my ideas here.

Well maybe i'm just having an overly sensitive canadian moment. I've received some snarky replies on these forums - I guess on days like this I should stay off the computer.

I should have said this earlier cause now it sounds wrong.
I loved your idea with the paint stirrer may use it later on. All I can say is thanks and hope you keep posting.
If you share an idea with a million people and it helps 1 of them it was a good idea.

Maybe that's my problem lately.

I am Canadian by birth, so that would be handy... to have something to blame it on!
