Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

It was pellets, not cubes. It didn't look moldy at all

I saw another poster mentioned that sometimes the pellets use animal fat as a binder, I bet that was the problem. I didn't know that myself, really irritates me as I was planning on getting them for my critters too, now I have to check labels and such first. Ugh!

Chickens need a little salt, just like every other living thing. You can check the tag on your feed bags and somewhere close to the bottom, you should find sodium listed.
Is it just a small amount though? What I was told is that if you go over that tiny amount it can be toxic to them. I was thinking the amount that rabbits need is a fair amount higher than what chickens need or can tolerate.

My Agrimaster rabbit food Pellets said 0.1% now since I don't have chicken feed bags since I get mash direct from the mill in barrels. Could someone check and post salt content in it?

Yes, it is a small amount. But like with almost everything else they can handle it if they more or less at different times, just as long as they don't get a higher amount (like the only thing they have to eat) on a regular basis, they will probably be fine. I don't think eating a few rabbit pellets will hurt them.

All of this reminds me, since I'm not using lay pellets anymore, I probably ought to take a very small pinch of salt and sprinkle over their ff.

i started my ff yesterday and was expecting to serve it sunday. when i went to stir the bucket today i was pleasantly surprised, it was fermenting nicely, so they got 2 helpings today and absolutely loved it.

I had overnight guests with one of my daughters and husband. I uncovered my FF bucket to proudly show off this great chicken food stuff and they held their noses and gasped!, "No wonder they like it! They are getting drunk on it!" , said my son in law. I almost choked in laughter!

It smells good to me. Pickly. My husband and daughter and son in law tell me it smells very strong and they don't like the smell. Weird.
Here's the best part. My chickens are crazy for it. They gobble it up like piggies at the trough. They look and act like the picture of health. That's all I need to be convinced that it is good for them. The new pullets have been on it a week and already they look fuller, redder in the face, and ready for the rooster! Oh yeah...Forgot to mention...Johnny met the girls for the first time today through a barrier fence. Love is in the air...Let's just say it won't be long before these girls and guy have a date.
