Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Cool to know about the geese, I started mine today and thought they would eat a lot more

I know..they really do not eat squat! They are all big, fat, and happy so I guess they are getting enough to eat. I make sure to keep their bowls full 24/7 so they can eat all they want.

In case anyone, like me, has started doing the FF and really wants some sourdough bread starter, I found this cool place online to get it. And it's just about free (with the cost of a SASE)!! I know, I could probably make my own - but this seems pretty sweet too

I just spent a little over a week making mine for wild yeast, so excited to use it!

I've looked and looked for that information. I've seen how to make a starter but I haven't seen how to use that starter and actually make some bread using the wild yeast from the starter I made! ???

Would you be willing to share this information?

i am planning on just using a sourdough recipe from one of my books and replace their starter for mine, i will let you know how it goes, i am also planing on making sourdough pancakes on saturday which are my husbands favorite, i may make them with buckweat flour (my fav)

and this is how i made my starter:

the only changes i made was that i used bread flour for all of my feedings and instead of tossing out the extra starter on day 4 i just split them into 2 different containers and fed them separetly for a couple days then i just put them together, and continued with the daily feedings

This is the same recipe I used to make my sourdough starter and I have had the same start for 3 years now (I forgot about it for about 2 months once and I was still able to bring it back!). I used my excess from feeding it one time to start my ferment and I have a very nice sweet sourdoughy smelling ferment.

I have also made my own sourdough bread with it and it is so yummy!

Just thought I would share the recipe for the best sourdough pancakes I have ever had! My hubby and my granddaughters absolutely love them.
