Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

When the feathers start to fly
And through the dust it’s hard to see
Folks get on the fermented thread
And then they write to Bee

Help me with my chickens
I don’t know what to do
Just calm down child and listen
To what Bee is telling you

Her advice is sound and practical
Like reading scripture verse
Cause she knows what she is saying
She is the chicken nurse

I brought a little chicken home
And I just cannot win
I now have a rooster
And I wanted a hen

Bee’s advice would be
I think like as not
Butcher that little rascal
And put him in the pot!

My chicken’s vent is nasty
And I don’t want to wipe her
Is it o.k.   for me
To put her in a diaper

Bee said don’t be silly
She can’t live like that
Just wash her little backside
And give it a loving pat

I have a big old chicken
What it is I do not know
It lays a double yoker
And then it starts to crow

Bee said that is something
For that chicken people will beg
It‘s not very often your alarm clock
Lays your breakfast egg

What do I feed my chicken
Tell me what to do
Who has the answer
Bee, we know it is you

Absolutely awesome little poem and words so true !!

Thank you, Bee for everything you do !!

My condolences.....

I know there are good mother-in-laws out there. I have seen them. Just not in my family.

Lisa :)
I have had two awesome mother's in law. The first one died w/ cancer, the second I still have. The most amazing thing about my first mil, Anne, is in the 20+ years I knew her I never once, seriously not one time, heard her speak a bad word about anyone, not even when some were on purpose actively trying to harm or annoy her or her family. She had a quiet strength, and even though I married her baby, she still liked me.

What a blessing! What a lovely story to tell!

My god-mother told me "You have to eat a peck of dirt before you'll grow up." And now science is proving her pretty well right. The kids who live with pets and play outside in the dirt are less likely to have asthma...as well as you all have said about your cleaner/sicker friends/relations.

I'm not trying to bash mine! She is what she is when it comes to being a clean freak. We've had our differences, but she has a generous heart. Her intentions are good.

But, then again, there's an old saying about good intentions and where they lead...

When my son was young they said he had asthma and loads of allergies, they told me not to let him outside for a few months and that he will be a very sick child. Well I took him off of formula at 1 month and started making his food (still supplementing with breast feeding with what I could), and within a week all of his problems disappeared. It turns out it was the formula that was making him sick! When he got better I started letting him play outside and he hasn't been sick once since then. He is almost 5 now.

When we had brought it up with our pediatrician several years ago, after they came into my life along with my wife, she said that it could very well have been a nutritional problem, although a lot is seen as genetic.  We know the mechanical deficiencies involved, but they aren't sure of the root causes.  In terms of the diet, it can be caused be the absence of the nutrients required for proper muscle formation.  In their case, it is not a problem seen in other parts of their families that we're aware of.

In many cases, I could very well see how it could be considered hereditary in that type of case, though.  With a great many families, the parents eat and live very similar or identical lifestyles, so a nutritional deficiency all through the parents' life could.

My niece and nephew definitely inherited their feet situations because neither of their dads nor dad's families were ever in their life enough to have much of any kind of influence on them, nutritional or otherwise. My sister asked my nephew's doctor about him and he told her that the problem came from his hips. It's not his legs or feet that caused/causes it.

Okay...I don't know about y'all, but Gollum has just GOT to go out of my sight as I look at the page. I'm posting a random pic to get his ugly mug off the right hand side of my screen when I view this thread....
