Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I had a chicken food they didn't like so I put it in w/ my fermented grains, didn't help they still don't like it. Well they are stuck until it is gone. My Gma raised me w/ two food choices, take it or leave it, and they are no better then me, so that is there choice too. I however will not get that food again.
I had that problem once before as well. They got hungry enough that they final ate it :)
And my Grandma was the same way

Morning everybody, hope your day is as beautiful as mine. Sunny, bright. Hope it lasts. Going to the store and starting to stock up on buckets, etc. I need to start getting my brooder set up. It's been so cold and dreary that I've been pretty much a vegetable for 2 weeks and I can tell my stamina is down. Got to get busy. AND the Christmas eating finally caught up to me. 2 lbs. I don't lose weight easily so I may be working on this for months.

Kassaundra, I bought one of those LED headlamps. Gonna be bright. Looks like I might have to buy a helmet to wear it on. ha

Good morning Linda. I'm glad you are having a sunny and bright day. That always perks me up. We seem to be hung up in the cool drearies right now, but not too bad. Spring will spring one of these days. Then the sun will shine, the green grass will grow and the leaves will be blowing in a nice breeze. Can't wait!

It was 80 degrees yesterday the humidity is down to 10 percent and the wind is blowing gusts up in the mountain between 50 and 60 MPH. In San Diego this is FIRE weather.... we had red flag alerts start yesterday. Down here by the coast normally we get 12 or so inches of rain per year.... This year we got 9. Up at my house we normally get about 9.... this year we got 3

Parts of LA county are already burning.

Man, that sucks. I remember some of the fires last year, and I remember this one girl here on BYC that converted an old car into a chicken coop... Which turned out to be really convenient when she had to evacuate! She drove to the evacuation center in a car filled with Red Ranger meat chicks! Kinda crazy, huh?

Amazing how the weather varies so much across the country. It is about 35 degrees here and dreary overcast skies. (Had to break the ice on everybody's water this morning.) The humidity is probably around 70-80% and we get around 50 inches of rain/year.

I hope you stay safe Deb. Those fires are so scary!

Now that would be cool with a big school bus and a lot of land. You could move it around for rotational free ranging.

Had to read that one to my Mom...we both got a laugh!!!

That's been the food choices in our family for generations! Take it or leave it was the choice, with a side option of "If you throw that up, you will eat that too!"

Where is everybody? Is there a FF Convention going on somewhere and I wasn't invited? Are y'all on a Carribean cruise without me! LOL

Off in the distance there are faint sounds of steel drums and laughter as a warm, tropical breeze~faintly tainted with the smell of FF~drifts across the room.....sadly, once again TW was left behind for the yearly FF Conference Cruise. All she can see are the distant figures of women standing on a deck waving as they sip fruity umbrella drinks, the white, foamy wake unfurling behind the ship mocking her as she stands there on the dock in her Bermuda shorts, black socks and sandals. Dang it! She had plans to win the loudest PJ pants competition this year!

Sigh.

Hey. Forget loudest PJs! I will wear my famous Hawk Catching PJs and bring my stray-cat chasing robe for good measure.

The hawk came back yesterday but no casualties. Just one terrified pullet. The worst part is that it is never mid day, it is always morning before I wake up it seems. (That's not true. Sometimes it is mid day and sometimes evening just morning is the worst.) Fish and wildlife services will be hearing from me presently.

In the meantime, I believe the assessment of Scoby in my FF is correct seeing as after three days it got all webby like Bee said it would. Tonight I will reestablish my elevated stand for it and chop in the first round of hay to ferment for the hens. Wish me luck!
