Stacey is completely deaf. And only worked with this horse for three weeks before taking it to championships. It wasn't even her horse. She dedicated this performance and song to her Dad. And you can tell. Lesson learned: You can do anything if you believe in yourself

Quote: That video was Stacy Westfall winning the freestyle at the Quarterhorse congress in 2006 I believe. Sadly Roxy died in 2012 due to complications from getting cast in her stall. She was in foal with her first foal. Stacy Westfall is an incredible horse woman.... One of those ones who are a natural "Natural Hormanship" trainer...

If you ever see a box stall with a wooden bar kind of like a hand rail about three to four feet up That is an Anti Cast rail. What it does is allow the horse to push off of something If they roll up against the wall in their stall. Otherwise they flounder galloping against the edge not able to turn back over. Some people just bank the bedding so they cant get so close to the wall.... doesnt always work.

I am not a horse person, but I found here (http://stacywestfallhorseblog.com/2...doll-roxy-born-march-15-2001-died-feb-8-2012/) that Roxy had (has?) 4 living offspring. I'm probably just showing my lack of horse knowledge, but There is also a show on horse training by Stacy westfall with Jac - who I thought was Roxy's as well. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Either way, That was amazing to watch!
Roxy is a barn name.... Her full registered name is Wizards Baby Doll. But though I knew vaguely that she had passed I read the same article as you.... IN the beginning of the article it said it was her first foal... The part about the four offspring also included mares.... That made me scratch my head....

http://stacywestfallhorseblog.com/2013/10/04/roxys-last-foal-jac/ OK This foal she died with was actually technically her first foal.... Biologically. The other four she had as a surrogate mare, implanted embryos.

Thanks!!!! Funny how implanted embryos are common in cows and horses... really makes me shake my head!

Hi everyone. Bee, Are you out there? I have an 8 week old pullet with a messed up leg. I'm guessing that one of the 3 week older pullets trampled her when she was on the ladder or something. Her ankle joint is very swollen and her foot is splayed out to the side. I called the only vet here known to take good care of chickens and was told: $65 to be seen, $150 for two x-ray views, $85 for anesthesia, plus whatever charges for whatever treatment the examination decreed. That wasn't going to happen. So first I taped the feet closer together to see if that would help. It didn't. Then I wrapped it with gauze soaked in an anti inflamatory salve. Didn't help. Maybe I should have culled her from the getgo, but dumb me I bring her inside and now she is a "house chicken"! I finally talked to a Dr. who said I should pull it straight and see what happens. It is her ankle joint, not broken, but like pulled ligaments and tendons. She can't walk on it, but is healthy and eating well otherwise. I'm thinking, have someone hold her and say, "It's like having a baby, it'll only hurt for a little while!" Ha! Anyway, have you seen this and have a clue what to do? Sure could use some advice. THX. :(

Oh, boy, Hon....you are asking the wrong person.

I've heard of it and it's called a slipped tendon, but I've never had a bird with it....but if I did, if I couldn't correct it within a few days and see some positive progress, the bird would be culled. Weak tendons are not something I would want to keep around, for various reasons but this lady seems to have all sorts of weird maladies in her flocks and remedies for such...I hope she has something that can help you!
