What % protein layers mash shall u us if im fermenting my feeds ??

does it matter about bugs or slugs getting into there ??

You should be fermenting it in a location that will not be an invite to either. You could raise your bucket up off the ground, and cover it with cheese cloth if you are fermenting outside. However, I'd not ferment out in the open, as it will also attract the wrong kind of attention: rats, mice, coons, possums, and other critters that go bump in the night and like a free meal, whether it's FF or chicken buffet.

Salt and something sticky to hold the salt at the lip of the container?

I wouldn't bother with a single slug. Salt too much bother. However, if you have some iron phosphate (otherwise known as Sluggo, or Escargo), you can use some of that. That's my "must have" in order to be successful in the garden.
