fertile duck eggs.....

i candeled both eggs tonight its night 4.. and i believe one has a blood ring

the yolk is at the top and when i candled it it has a pretty thick red line in it ... couldn't tell if it was a complete circle or not... lets hope its just normal vein growth !!

If your candling light isn't that bright, it could easily be mistaken for a blood ring (or line). The embryos do tend to develop more up toward the top of the egg, near the air cell. If it's normal vein growth you're seeing, then you should be able to tell in the next few nights whether or not it's growing - there is a LOT of vein growth that goes on between days 4 and 7.

I do hope they develop and hatch for you! They're Runners, right?

yes! they are both runner eggs

then i am placing 3 silkie eggs under the same hen on friday so they hatch the same time. i can't wait!!! i dont want to candle anymore to bother the eggs.... but i know thats realllllllly unlikely!

I know this question is from a while ago but just wanted to say, I have 3 duck eggs day 16 and on day 3 one of them looked like that too,no veins or anything and on day 9 he had veins and a heart beating.
