I think my eyes are playing tricks on me
opinions on whether this goose egg could be fertile or not? All pictures are the same egg, just trying to get better visibility of the spot in question

Thank you, yeah i have become pretty good at spotting the bullseye in my chicken eggs, i didnt think this goose egg would be fertile (it is her first ever egg laid and we are still not sure if one of the other 2 geese is a gander or not!) there was multiple white spots in the yolk and i wasnt in the best light so thought i would triple checkYour looking for a ring around the spot for fertilized. Silly comment but it is fertile (that the dot) just didn't get the boys touch to be fertilized that's the ring. If it was there it usually shows up better in black and white photo, My eyes are not to good so I usually do a photo as a double check...
Your doing great. Welcome to geese so with my runner ducks I crack and look. with my geese that are over 2 years I tend to put them in the incubator and wait for day 7. with the young ones its usually a big hit a miss. So even if you have a gander you wondlnt know till you see the ring. Depending on your breed the weather the boy finally hitting the mark (believe me it takes time to figure that one out with most of my boys). The best way to look at it is Geese live for 20 plus years and there bodies develop in the same. I have a boy who finally fathered one this year he was 16 months.Thank you, yeah i have become pretty good at spotting the bullseye in my chicken eggs, i didnt think this goose egg would be fertile (it is her first ever egg laid and we are still not sure if one of the other 2 geese is a gander or not!) there was multiple white spots in the yolk and i wasnt in the best light so thought i would triple check![]()

Thats awesomeChinese are really good at first year eggs. Boys should be fertile by then if they have figured out how to hit the target. Have you watched them in the pool? It really evident you have a boy when you hear the high I did it after he even thinks he made target and you might watch him pull his tool back in it takes them more then a moment to do that, But girls will breed girls is a dominant thing you never really hear the high pitched screech. was this your first egg or have you been checking for a while. love to see the update with photos
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! I adore hatching eggs, so I understand how excited for you. Pls don't shoot me, & by all means, pls realize this is just my newbie (only have had geese a few years!) opinion / experience. We finally have our answer!! We have 2 females and 1 male! And WE HAVE FERTILE EGGS!!!!can anyone send me a good link or fill me in to information about incubating goose eggs - length of time, temperatures, humidity levels, changes to levels for lock down and all that kind of information ?
ive done chickens and ducks so know the general basics but no idea on temps length and humidity for the geese
Definitely wouldn't shoot you i value all information and opinions!!Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! I adore hatching eggs, so I understand how excited for you. Pls don't shoot me, & by all means, pls realize this is just my newbie (only have had geese a few years!) opinion / experience.
I tried hatching goose eggs a few years back & only had one survive. Probably something I did wrong, but since I've let the geese do the incubating...I've had WAY better hatch rates!
Just my 2 cents!
Congrats again!
