Is this egg fertilized..?

Oh goodness sounds like she's having a rough time starting up. Not sure how to proceed as we haven't dealt with that in my geese.

You may want to get a hold of her and feel how fat she is as I know being too heavy can cause problems laying. With geese it can be hard to tell by looking what weight they are. That's the only thing I can think of.

Hopefully she feels better soon.

I didn’t think she was too fat. I can somewhat feel her keel bone. I would guess she’s a 3 on the 1-5 body condition chart. My scale says she’s about 13.5 lbs now.

She’s out and about grazing right now.

That's good to know. Do you provide free choice oyster shells?

Okay, I also just gave her 1 ml of liquid calcium gluconate. She wasn’t very interested in feed and kind of sluggish when she first came out of the coop, but she’s eaten and seems a bit better now. I’m thinking she’ll be okay, but I’d appreciate any advice anyway @Goosebaby @Jenbirdee @oldhenlikesdogs @JRies
I wonder if 1 ml ( duck dose) cal gluc is enough for a 13 pound goose?
One thing I know is that you can give a second dose the same day

And also possibly if you can get her to soak in a lukewarm bath

Yes, I’ve had oyster shell put out for 4 weeks now, or about when my African started laying.

I thought about the dose amount more after giving it. I remembered reading .2 ml per lb, so I suppose 2.7 ml would be closer to a full dose for her.

Miss Lydia said It’s not unusual for them to lay like that when they are first starting out , she Is working out the kinks. Smear of blood normal too. , I think she’ll be okay
Tell Miss Lydia thank you, and it’s very nice to hear from her :hugs

I have had geese that can eat a ton of oyster shell when they first lay. Im a firm believer in keeping a feeder filled with oyster shell at all times. 2 of my white girls started laying early this year the 2 of them go through about 1 1/2-2 cups a week. I have 15 hens and 8 ducks 50 pounds usually makes the spring laying.
