One of my Girls layed a fairy egg and I found it today buried in the favorite nest!
I opened it to show my boys and to our surprise it not only had a teeny tiny yolk, it had veins and a teeny tiny embryo!
I've only ever heard that fairy eggs are yolkless so I'd love to hear about any other fairy egg anomalies!

Here's the fairy egg (I think my Light Brahma, Anna layed it. It's the same coloring as her normal eggs.) next to one of my large eggs.

    Then I opened it!

Have y'all had any silly fairy eggs?

Wow, that's amazing! I wonder if you had left it for your hen, if it would have hatched? So cute!

I think that is just an abnormal yolk, like one you would find in most fairy eggs. A fertile egg with that much fetal development would have a lot more veins in the egg 'white'.

Cool pics. The tiny eggs my hens have laid have all been yolkless.

It's not showing in the pictures (took them with my iphone) but there were loads of little veins. I'll have to dig out my fancy camera if it happens again!

The hen that I'm pretty sure layed it usually has lovely large eggs and we just hatched a sweet little guy from one of her eggs![IMG]
(My sister is holding the cutie so his beautiful fluffy legs show)

And this is one of Anna's normal eggs next to our brightest blue Easter Egg!

    Pretty eggs.
Ooh, I just noticed in your signature that you have Polish Bantam crosses. Do they have the adorable demi head poofs?

    They sure do! They're hilarious![IMG]

    This is my favorite, Helena!
( I was trying to mimic her serious surprised face but it came off as "goofy surprise" mostly!)
