I would use it wherever I could since you have it. My biggest concern would be heat gain. Lots of ventilation up hig in coop near top would help that problem. If framed and fastened properly, all but the strongest winds would pose no problem. Can you trade some of it for plywood or OSB, or rough-sawn planks?
Once you said the Transvaal I suddenly had the big picture of where you live. Your dogs would certainly keep out mongoose if you have them, and the mongoose(es) will keep snakes away. Having 'new ground' is such a benefit, you can set up, pre-treat the soil and have a pest-free environment. It looks as though you have a cleared property, thus reducing the chance of ticks.
So, predator protection from hawks and ventilation appear to be the primary concerns...I think you are going to have a marvellous set-up.
