It was quiet.
The myriad of distant nighttime noises were soothing to the ears; like a lullaby without tune. The cold air was fresh with the smell of the conifer trees below, which, from the view from high up where Aiden sat - a flat rock within an impression in the mountains, much like a small cliffside - seemed to resemble a lush, green valley. He allowed his long, spindly bird legs dangle limply on the edge, swinging them back and forth ever so slightly. The soft, blue-hued moon lit up the jagged outline of the mountains, creating a dreamlike landscape. Enjoying the soothing peace and silence, he laid his head back against the stone and rested his eyes.
