filling incubator tomorrow 5-7 anyone else?

Have you candeled your eggs yet? I candeled mine tonight and I have 25 for sure, 15 that the shells are a little thick and I can't tell just yet and 1 that was fertile but I had to take out because it was cracked. I have had my temperature spike like that but it didn't seem to hurt them.

I candled them. Not looking to promising.

i will give them until sunday and if nothing shows ill be starting over. Glad yours are doing so well

Woohoo 8 eggs have survived the temp spike. (So seems lol) a few appear duds but will wait till day 10 before tossing. A few others were dark and hard to see yet. But with 8 outta 20 and a major temp spike im pretty happy. Besides im sure dh will be happier all 20 wont hatch lol

Glad you had some make it. The first time I started with 10 eggs. 1 wasn't fertile. 1 cracked. 8 made it to lockdown. 5 hatched. 3 died in shell. 1 died day after hatch. Still have the 4 that survived in brooder. They are 1 month old today. You will get alot of experience on this your first hatch. Don't give up and don't loose any sleep.

Im def learning. Yay. Yours still looking good? Im crossing my fingers a few more start showing growth. This may be my only hatch this yr but hoping for 2 next yr already lol

Yep, mine are still doing good. I try not to check on them as much as I did the first time. Seems like the time is passing a little faster. This will be my last hatch this year. If they all hatch and make it I will have 74 chickens. That is way too many for me. I only have a 20x60 coop and run. I will sell off alot of this batch. Hopefully this next 2 weeks will pass fast and you will be a proud momma before you know it.

Im trying not to look again till wed night. Then ill make the final call on who goes and who stays. Expecially being my first time candeling dont wanna make mistakes early. Good luck im sure the last weeks go quick

9 are looking great. Even saw movement. Yay. 4 were hard to tell yet. Im so excited and watching em move a bit was soo cute.

Your not going to believe this. Just went out to the coop and i have a broody hen sitting on about 15 eggs. They are not all hers. I was leaving them in there to see what would happen and sure enough I had one go broody on me. If the ones in the bator hatch and she hatches all of them that will be about 55 chicks. Will definately have to sell them. I am glad yours are still doing good. Just over a week to go!! If in doubt about an egg leave it in there as long as it doesn't smell bad u will b alright. If u are for 100% sure then take it out. Never hurts to leave one in for a little extra time.

I took out all with no signs i even cracked em open to look. I was right nothing going on. Leaves me 11 now. To bad ur not closer id help with a few extras. I may toss anothet batch in about a or so. See how the weather is. That's awesome your broody is sitting. None of mine show like they will ever lol. All well cant wait till next weekend. Im soo stoked. Good luck with all your eggs
