Oooh good luck for a good hatch for both of us!!

I am getting my brooder ready since I will be in and out this week so that I can have it ready for them ahead of time when they hatch. I bought fresh sponges to add to the incubator to bring my humidity up past 60 and so far all is looking good.

He made a crack in the shell, but hasn't gone any further yet. How long does it usually take? I think its been 2 hours since the first crack. There is no hole yet.

It can take 12-18 hours for some babies. Make sure the humidity is really high. Ducks need higher humidity

I had one do the same thing,b ut when I smelled it up close it stunk. I throw it out at once. I don't think it was any good from the start.

i did get brave (sort of) and opened the egg while securely sealed (thank heavens for ziplocks). it looked like a normal unfertile egg. if it was a quitter it must have been very early, like day 2 or 3.

well tonight i just candled my eggs again and cleared out all the clear eggs that looked unfertil and im down to 12 eggs in all out of the 12 i have 11 i could see the little chicks moveing inside of the eggs we have one of the grand kids here and we showed him the chicks moveing inside of the eggs he thought it was neat to see and he was trying to pick out the ones he was going to get already and trying to come up with some names for them we told him that some time next weekend they should be starting to hatch out he said he would make sure that he was going to be here to see them hatching we told him that he was going to have to clean out the brooder so we can put the chicks in it after they hatch we are going to be putting the eggs into lock down on thursday night thinking for a saterday night or sunday hatch kinda hopeing that its a sunday hatch so we can have all the grand kids over to see the hatch cause they are all asking when they will hatch out and it will be a chance for a family bbq also

6 pips, still no breakthroughs. It's been 12 hours since the first pip, and there has been no change with that one...

Can you see them breathing or moving? I had 3 Muscovey eggs that I had to help hatch back in April. They were all able to pip but couldn't get out. I interveined after about 48 hours of no progress. I could see and hear the babies in the eggs.. they just couldn't get out. I closed myself in the bathroom and turned the shower on very hot to steam up the room really really well. Once I opened the bator i worked quickly and only broke away small amounts of the shell. I broke the shells about 1/3 of the way around and put them back. Waited another 6-10 hours to see if they could progress at all on their own. When they couldn't, I hatched them out myself. I figured they would have NO chance if I didn't help. WELL.. they all three ended up living and doing ok even though 1 was a little weird at first. Couldn't lift his head up. Like his neck was strained from trying to get out. Anyway.. IF you decide to help stop immediately if you see any blood. That means they aren't ready yet.. GOOD LUCK! I'll be thinking about you
