To clarify: most of those subtractions were not deaths.

I had my flock of 2 year old girls, six of them. All very healthy. I rescued six pasty butt chicks. +6. I lost my first ever chicken. Melody. I miss her with every breath. -1. I sold 2 pullets. -2. It hurts, but in an okay way. Then I gave Emma 4 pullets. -4. It hurts too, but in a good way. I didn't cry that time. I'm back to five hens. Less than I started with.
All that chicken math happened over 2 months.
Very tiring. My soul is weary.
