Finally...a good photo...after how many attempts? 😆 Let's share bloopers!

Rocky, my 1st Roo, Barred Rock, the biggest, loudest mouth, one with biggest attitude too. Even though he's old now, he's still fiesty. Here he is crowing his head off because he sees I'm trying to take his photo. With him, it's either Stink Eye or Crowing his displeasure at being photographed. 😆 He's especially grumpy when molting. Seems the only time he is not ticked off, is when I scoop him up & force him to sit on my lap & let me fuss over him...then he actually makes sweet sounds....but the second he's off my lap, it's back to Stink Eye again. Love that goofy bird! 20210717_192953.jpg

Holy cow...that is a big bird!!!
I think so too. He is a silkie, partridge, I believe. He was given to us by a family friend who didn't want a rooster. We took him and got some nice hens for him.
I don't know a bunch about silkies. I know I love their disposition. He is much larger than all of our females and our other white silkie rooster. I haven't done any research, they are all just pets. I do wonder why he is so big though... I would love for any information, if anyone reading along knows...
The photo below is our small, compact rooster and a few hens. I don't have a side by side of the 2 roosters, they hate each other, LoL. But Rick James (partridge) is twice the size of Rick Flair (white).

I wish they offered genetic tests for chickens. They have them for dogs to see what breed a mix is. It would be interesting to find out what genes our birds have. When I have attended poultry shows I'm always amazed at how tiny or how large chickens can be.
