Finally an external pip

Yaaay for more pips!
Five of mine are out this morning. Their 'new mom' is coming to pick them up this afternoon.
Good luck!

I love having the hatcher beside my bed- even if they do sometimes wake me in the middle of the night.

So do I --- my husband, noooot so much.

So its been just about 20 hours since the 1st external pip and no progress. Should I start worrying? I'm pretty sure its the 2nd one to pip that I am hearing and not the first one. When to start worrying and when to know if i need to help? Sorry I'm a worry wart and I like to be prepared.

From what Katharina has told me numerous times, 24-48hrs from external pip. There is still time, shine a flash light on them maybe wiggle ever so gentally the incubator

or tap on it and peep loud or quack while shining the light on them. Sometimes they want to fall a sleep and forget what they are doing. LOL! Each duckling is different in their zest for getting out and stretching their legs. OMG wait until you see that "Leg room finallly, STREEEEETCH!"

Thanks Missy. I just worry to much sometimes (at least that is what hubby always tells me) I will try not to worry for a little while longer.

My dh tells me I'm not happy unless I worry! LOL!! He watch I believe all but 1 hatch, he didn't talk to them but he went and sat on a chair and watched. I'm getting more drake babies then females, so I might have to think about doing something, but I got a pretty yellow/orange girl I believe and since it's the week of Halloween, I'm naming her "PUMPKIN",.

Awww that is a cute name. We art thinking of name 1 of our lucky. Its the #7 egg and was the 1st to pip. So I'm hoping to have some progress on tha one soon. Since the kids already picked a name for it.

Not at the 24 hours mark, they may be resting. Keep an eye on movements of the eggs. Funnybunnies noticed quite correctly that shining a light on them may make them move. You need to worry once they get to the 48 marks, and they have not progressed by then. That usually means they are shrink wrapped and need help. For now just sit tight and wait. Do not open the incubator at all, since the humidity drop once piped externally will cause shrink wrapping.

LOL Ok. You mean I have another day of this? I don't think I can take it. LOL.... I hear 1 or maybe both peeping away, but haven't seen the eggs moving or rocking at all.

They don't always move or rock a lot. Very often it is like a slight shaking or shivering. Sound is a good thing. They do need the extra time to absorb their yolk.
