So I am a little slow at times but this slid right past me. Let me explain. My friend from work has recently got me hooked on chickens. I know she's a saint, well she has started incubating eggs and if she gets more than she wants she asked if I would want some. I of course became very excited and began to plan how I would house these little darlings. I went on Craigslist and asked for old sheds I looked for piles of old wood lying around, I kept my eyes on neighbors yards for free items, I even asked my boyfriend to build something for me all with no prevail. Out of the blue today I decided to just look up chicken items on the old internet and although I've seen it before this car coop sparked something in my head to say hey the old RV in the backyard is garbage why not turn that into a coop. So now that the blonde moment has passed I now turn to the task of gutting it out and making it chicken ready and predator proof. I can't wait!!

And more pictures are coming soon I have to climb through the snow to get up there first! Wish me luck!

I say list your camper on craigslist (free) and offer to take a coop in trade or barter for someone to build you a coop. I bet there is somone out there that could use your camper (not matter how bad it may be). If you decide to use it, it has a lot of thngs going for it, insullated, windows/vents for ventilation, etc. Try an keep the sink so you can was your hands when your done in the coop.

I figured if I kept it i could section it off and keep the bathroom and kitchen area for their food and such. And your right all of those things came into my mind too. I might just keep it!

Angela this is the exact reason I love you. I just got home and I am turning the eggs (your future camper chicks) this very moment...

I say keep the RV and that would be the sweetest crib ever for your chickens. Put some shag carpet in, curtains, and a disco ball. All the other chickens would be jealous. Don't forget the TV screens and sound system.

Seriously tho, very good idea. I thing it would make the best coop.

Honestly if I was in your situation, I would not use the camper for te chicken, even if it is not working now, you never know when you might need it.( that's just a true and honest advise) chicken coop is not that expensive to build if you plan everything smart and learned from other's mistakes.
For an example.
1- new lumber for 50 to 75% off all what I do I go to lowe's or home depot find the little crucket pieces and I swear they give me discount on them all the time.
2- Construction sites will let haul off all kind of trash lumber for free, asking will never hurt me, they can't kill me all what they can say no you can't or yes take the trash.
3- it is way easier to clean a chicken coop than cleaning an RV.
4- ventilation is big deal with chicken coops!

And ofcourse I wish you the best with what you decide to do.

Omran.
