Thanks to everyone who told me sand was the best thing in the run. After trying plain dirt= mud, mulch= poopy mud, and small rocks= smelly poop covered rock.... I got a few buckets of sand, dug out about a half foot of disgusting packed down poop, and it I think that's going to finally fix my muddy, poopy chicken problem!
Just gotta wait til Monday to get more buckets and the run will be complete....for the time being.
