My 8 BO pullet chicks and 2 RIR roo chicks are here! Two arrived w/pasty butts so used water & cooking oil then smeared the oil on afterward, too. It was exhausting for the one RIR roo chick and the BO girl was stronger, so far. They are very interesting to the dogs and cats! Therefore, the cage is way on top of the freezer and the 50 gallon aquarium is loaded w/boxes to the ceiling to try to keep all paws and noses out of reach...next step is to shut the door as another safety precaution but I'm trying the door open at first. I'm so glad I didn't put the cage in my daughter's bedroom, I'd have invaded her privacy too much
They are in the entry way w/a 100 watt heat lamp as the smaller light bulb wasn't enough since I had to get the pasty butts cleaned up. I've missed 4 hours of work already and don't know if I can tear myself away to go to gardening class tonight but I've got to, my veggies were the first seeds to germinate and they must've really grown since Thursday. (Green houses are still frozen so we're using the high school carving/workshop area.)
You should have heard the geese honking when they heard the peeps as I hurried past their coop! They must have thought I was stealing their eggs/peepsters -which haven't hatched yet to my knowledge, at least as of last night...)
