FINALLY got one!

The hens are 22 weeks (RIR & BR) and I was starting to think they were just taunting me, tonight we got our first egg for the year! About darn time!

Gonna take a pic and then crack it for fertility check (Bonus from marring a science teacher, I can use the microscope to check for bullseye). The egg has an odd color, it looks like some EE blood may be in the lines (they were harchery birds) as the egg isn't brown as much as brown with speckles.

It's sort of speckled with light blue, the photo was taken in partial shade.

I wish I would have blown out the first egg we got from our girls....but then again they were already laying when we got them..when they decided to take a hiatis once here for a few weeks. we have 14 weekers that are getting close...so something to ponder.
