Finally, got some chickens again..

Saoirse is the Irish language word for "freedom" and may refer to:

Saoirse (name)
Saoirse Ronan, an Irish child actress
Saoirse Irish Freedom, the monthly organ of the Republican Sinn Féin
Saoirse na hÉireann, a small Irish republican paramilitary group
Saoirse (horse), Canadian Champion racehorse

Pronunciation: SEER-shuh

What about Saoirse? over here lots of people are called it , its irish for freedom , but a common name! :) and If you'd like to know abpout Scot's Dumpy's , messag eme ill explain lol , pine martins are awful horrible things , come across very cute , but they kill chickens for pure fun , they pull their heads off , leave the body's and the heads , dont even eat them , just kill them for fun! Ive lost so amny to them , its heartbreaking...but my dog's are luckily keeping them away now , Ireland is a fantastic country if i do ay so myself (lol) how are you finding it now Sumi? :)
It's great! We drove up to Barley Lake today, but it was pouring with rain, so I didn't get out of the car to look. The scenery was spectacular though! I'm going back to take pics when the weather's good. This place is amazingly beautiful. I love it!

Some prounounce it that way , mostly , maybe its just our accent , but we prounounce it Sorsha
I'm not even going to try and pronounce most of your words and place names. I'll stick to the English versions, thank you

I missed that...
Sally, here's the coop. We're going to modify it next week. It's tiny! DH is going to build a nice big extension that we're going to attach to that so my poor girls can run around a bit. Shame, it's raining today and they look bored.

Awwww its adorable!!!

It is cute, but still small... We're going to go shopping for some more mesh etc later. The weather's not great today, so we're not keen on going out yet. I went out early to open the girls and say good morning. They all talked to me

I gave them some spinach just now and they don't look interested? I went out a few minutes later and it's still untouched. My previous flock would've preformed tricks for spinach! I need to teach these girls about treats.

Yes , they usually are very shy , and dont seem to know what food is when i first get em anyway lol. They should liven up soon , im afriad the weather is said to be bad for the next few months

well , until after christmas anyway , but hopefully we'll get a nice day :) its all mud and rain down here lol!

My favorite thing is to go to the "reduced" shelf at the local market I buy my produce. It consists of anything beat up, or past considered pretty to sell. You know, the brown bananas that my grandmother coveted, and bruised and beat up fruit. Things go between 50 cents and a few dollars. I got a very beat up looking papaya a few days ago, the black seeds looked like caviar. I put that out there, and thankfully I got my hand out in time. The Barred Rock who seems to be my fatty fat girl, always eating gobs of whatever is in front of her was the first to taste test it, and with a signal of a low bbbbaaawwwkk... the others knew it was safe to enter the perimeter, and off they went. I have never seen anything I have brought them dissapear so fast.

Yesterday I bought a very beat up looking spaghetti squash, microwaved it for 7 minutes,, scooped it all out, cut it up, and put it back in the shell... they loved that too. Guess this will get them through the winter, when there aren't many bugs or grasses to eat.

Enjoy the day everyone!
