I'd also let them enjoy that grass before adding sand. I'm very happy for you and your transplant. A very dear friend of mine is also waiting on a liver and I've watched her healthy go up and down. Every time she phones I hope it's to tell me that today is the day. Chickens surely are therapeutic and DH and I find ourselves going out to watch them every evening.
